I was a victim of crime, and CICF helped by paying for my medical expenses, some of the time I lost from work, and even my counseling sessions.

We're Updating Our Name!

We are excited to announce that in the coming months, we will begin referring to the Criminal Injuries Compensation Fund as the Virginia Victims Fund. This new name is easier to remember and is a better description of who we are and what we do.

We will be the same fund, continuing to serve victims of crime. Only the name will change. Our phones and mailing addresses will remain the same. We will be updating this web page soon to provide easier access to information about the Virginia Victims Fund.

No one thinks crime will happen to them, but when it does it can be life-changing. You may not be able to work because of an injury, you may have medical bills piling up, or you may be scared to be in your own home.

    2. Complete the Claim Application (PDF, 537KB);
    3. Or have one mailed to you by calling 1.800.552.4007.

  2. Fill out the application, have it notarized, and return to CICF by mail or in person.
  3. You will receive a letter from CICF asking for any additional information needed.
  4. After all the documents necessary to make a decision have been collected, you will receive a decision letter on your claim. Please be aware it could take up to 6 months.
